I hold the Eastern Columbia Gorge, and all points yonder and dry in high esteem. I have said it before on this site, but something about the area put the zap on me about 11 years ago, and has not let go. It may be because it is so unlike the area in which I was raised, or the places I roamed for my first couple of decades in Oregon, but there is something in the sparse, golden contour of the hills, and in the dusty places where tractors outnumber people that I find to be astonishingly beautiful. I wrote a post about it in 2020. You can find it here.
The Eastern Columbia Gorge (as far as my photography is concerned) extends from Hood River to Arlington on the Oregon side, and from Bingen to Roosevelt on the Washington side.
This landscape seems to lend itself remarkably well to black and white, but color is not out of the question, especially when it zings.
So, here’s to zinging, zapping, and all then things that make ones skin tingle on a dry day in a wheat field. I hope you enjoy what you see.
