I have been stuck with a dilemma for the past few years, which is, simply put, how to put the smart phone down, and concentrate on something meaningful. I post pictures to Flickr, Facebook, and Instagram, and I get the usual faves, and likes along with a few comments. Am I selling work from those platforms? No. Are they, therefore, a waste of my time? Maybe. I get some exposure, and can use them as traveling portfolios that everyone has access to, but for the amount of time that I spend on them (with a Bejeweled game or two in the mix), I don’t see a return commensurate with the effort.
This is why I decided to put my web site up before it was done. I was sitting on it for over a year because editing it was so painful. Nothing seemed to do what I wanted, and every interesting thing that I saw to do with it cost more money. So, today, I bit the big one, and bought a new theme, and published the site. I still have to purchase a few more things to really make it sing, but it’s up on the web. The idea of publishing it too soon was to get me in gear to make the changes that I have to as quickly as possible so I can present a professional site to the world.
So, here it is: My web site. The Blog is running. The rest is in shambles. The Image Gallery is working a little better than it was, but it needs work. Check back as the thought arises, and I’ll hopefully have it sorted out.
Thanks for looking!

The picture above s from 2012, and was taken in waaaaay upstate New York in June of 2012, when we flew out to PA and NY to visit family, and didn’t get out much to take pictures. On an few occasions, I did make forrays into the hinterlands with my Speed Graphic, and photographed some old barns—a favorite subject of mine.
I usually try to steer clear of having power lines in my pictures, but this time it was unavoidable, so composed the picture with them coming diagonally from the corner to make them somewhat compositionally pleasing.
Camera: Speed Graphic 4×5
Lens: 90mm Nikkor
Film: Kodak Tri-X 320 developed in Kodak HC-110
